Proposal       Achievements        Shortcomings       Future Plans

III.    A FUTURISTIC APPROACH

We strongly feel that with the commitment of the members, coaches as well as the guardians and good wishes of our patrons, the Jhargram Cricket Academy will soon achieve a forceful existence in the cricket-map of West Bengal. However, in order to attain such height certain infrastructure and financial deficiencies need be removed and suitable strategies need be adopted to bring the entire population of the Jhargram Sub Division under the scope of the Jhargram Cricket Academy. The activities those are envisaged to that end are categorized below:

1.      Development of own play ground:

As has been mentioned earlier the coaching is imparted in a space belonged to the Jhargram Municipality. Although several practice pitches were prepared and nets were set in the said space, the land could not be developed further to suit to the sole purpose of the Jhargram Cricket Academy. Moreover, no attempt could be taken to construct any permanent structure. Therefore, it is proposed to possess at least 6 (six) acres of land in the Jhargram Municipal area on a long-term basis to develop own playground of the Academy.

2.      Construction of Club House & Gymnasium:

With a view to run the Academy in a professional manner a Club House with moderate facilities deems to be very essential. Besides, in order to maintain the physical fitness of the trainees at a reasonably high standard a gymnasium is also necessary. The Academy cherishes a desire to have its Club House & Gymnasium as early as possible aiming at betterment of the coaching standard and flawlessness of the house keeping norms.

3.      Block wise annual talent search:

In order to bring the entire population of the Jhargram Subdivision under coverage it is proposed to organize “Annual Talent Search Camps” every year regularly in each of the eight blocks of the subdivision. The aim of organizing such camps would be to identify cricketing talents of the remote areas and provide them with proper nurturing to fulfill their desire to become successful cricketers.

4.      Maximizing exposure to away matches:

Skill acquired through training can be tested and further sharpened through exposure to away matches. The Academy aims at maximizing such exposure of its trainees to away matches by participating in recognized tournaments organized by reputed bodies.

5.      Need based merit scholarship:

Adverse financial situation of a family restricts many promising cricketing talents from pursuing the game of cricket. Keeping this in view the Academy cherishes a desire to provide need-based scholarship fully to at least 10 candidates and partially to 20.

6.      Separate coaches for batting and bowling:

In order to bring in a degree of perfection in the process of learning of the trainees of the Academy it is proposed to engage separate expert coaches for batting and bowling.

7.      Provision for sufficient playing equipments/gadgets:

Due to paucity of fund the Academy has not been in a position to provide its trainees with sufficient playing gadgets. As a result of this the trainees not only remain exposed to the danger of being hurt, but also find it inconvenient to share gadgets, whatever available, with others in the course of training as well during matches.

8.      Providing nutritive refreshment during training:

As yet the Academy has not been able to provide any kind refreshment to the trainees during the period of training schedule. It is felt that nutritive refreshment would definitely help the trainees, particularly during the rigorous training schedule.
